Done enough

Well, it's not totally done but the art show started last week....I'm stickin it in a frame and takin it in tomorrow...God, I'm glad I don't have a real job. I'd get fired for procrastination.

  1. Hey, Pat--it looks good. Nice composition, and the darker colors really made it pop.
    Now--what's next? ;^>

  2. Thanks, Connie. I think I'm going to finish my PB then dig out some other sketches that I should have been working on before now. I sketched this one when I was driving my wife on a snowy day on a rural postal route in Kentucky...probably five years ago or more. Sometimes, she would have to get out of the car for extended periods of time and I started working on this drawing then...probably thinking about summer and how soon would it get here. Thanks for stopping by and I hope everything is going well for you. :)

  3. Hello Pat, what's procrastination? It's just that we are doing something else, rather than what we are supposed to... so that's great.

You could procrastinate on a painting by doing another painting maybe?

I procrastinate on hands. I have three paintings of people with no hands. I have started putting hooks on them....

This painting, it's just great how you are working the blue of the boat off the dirtied orangey pier. The patina and debris of the pier really add a grande contrast to the sleak hull.

Paintings are never finished? They are just abandonned at the right place..... :)

    see you!

  4. Gee, Pat. First time I've been to your blog and I'm impressed. I love love love the cartoon of the liberal cat as I love cats and just lost mine (put to sleep...tears). Your new piece is very nice. I really like the different viewpoint. Everyone always paints a boat and a pier while looking out towards the water. Love to see the old band photos of you. I hate to say it but I remember those days in the 70's oh too well. That ages me but who cares? I like where I'm at right now.

  6. Hi Pat! I've been meaning to leave a comment after i saw this which was like many days ago. It looks really good! i like the details such as the reflections cast by the water on the boat and also the rays of light seeping through from the planks. these details and other even finer ones make the piece very beautiful and serene.

  10. Okay, Andrew. I will. I'm doing some "real" work this week...some boring but well paying signs. And I worked on that stupid book again yesterday...three hours going over two stanzas and after I was done it was basically the same as when I started. I guess that means what I had was right in the beginning or I just don't know what is right. Thanks for stopping by:)...like your pic...you heard from Mita?

  12. Mita...the always amazing Mita.
Funny you mentioned the dark side of the moon. On my way home tonight I saw an almost full moon tipping over the clouds at the river. I watched as it rose and as always when it is so close to the horizon, the features were very clear. I looked at the dark and light spots for a while and then thought about the other side of it. This is sort of scary; you're not communicating with me like that are you... I mean, we've got the internet. :)
Anyway, that's a pretty cool notion.
    Goodnight, Little Witch.
